The proprietors of Carleton Avenue Grocery love their local community of Georgetown, a truly historic neighborhood of Seattle, WA and it shows. Since 2004, we have been working on historical preservation efforts in Seattle's oldest neighborhood. Learn more below.
Since we moved to Georgetown (in the 1990's), we have been in love with our little neighborhood just south of downtown Seattle. There is so much spirit in a small place, and the Carleton Avenue Grocery is happy to be involved with such a fun community.
Friends of Georgetown History
The Friends of Georgetown History is a community group of friendly and talented neighbors dedicated to celebrating the neighborhood of Georgetown's many contributions to the legend of Seattle's early years. The proprietors of Carleton Avenue Grocery were the founding members of this organization and continue on with the groups mission since 2004.
Friends of Georgetown History also produces the annual Georgetown Haunted History Tour. For more information and gorgeous pictures of Georgetown through the years, see the Friends of Georgetown History website.
Hat n' Boots
Georgetown's most famous landmark is now located at Oxbow Park, just a hop, skip and jump from the Carleton Avenue Grocery, both located on Carleton Ave S. We have been involved with the restroration of this landmark for over a decade.
The "Premium Tex", Texaco gas station, better known as the Hat n' Boots opened in 1954. Located in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood, was only one part of a larger shopping complex called Frontier Village. Read more about the Hat n' Boots.
